SUMMARY:Things of Stone & Wood (Original Duo)\, The Old Church on the Hill\, Bendigo
DESCRIPTION:The Old Church on the Hill is proud to present the Things of Stone & Wood (Original Duo)\, along with much loved young Bendigo artist\, Ryan McPartlane… \nThings of Stone and Wood (TheOriginal Duo)\nRae St Album Launch Tour\n\nIt was 1989. The end of one decade and the start of something new. Michael Allen–Mikey to his mates–appeared on the doorstep of Greg Arnold’s Carlton share house in Melbourne\, Australia with beers in hand and harmonies in head. “There were no gigs to hustle and no recordings to make\,” Greg says. “We sang and drank for the fun of it.” \nNearly 40 years on\, buoyed by their massive hit “Happy Birthday Helen”\, Things of Stone and Wood have had two Top 10 albums\, a Top 10 single and five Top 50 hits\, plus a chart hit in Germany. The band has also won an ARIA Award\, and singer Greg Arnold was named Songwriter of the Year at the APRA Music Awards. \nNow Greg and Mikey (also an APRA award winner)\, who started the whole shebang are doing a special run of shows as Things of Stone and Wood (The Original Duo) to launch the band’s brand-new acoustic album “Rae St”. Recorded at home in Melbourne “Rae St” is the first of two albums that the band are releasing in 2026 (their first albums since 2003)\, demonstrating that the band is still an artist folk-rocking force\, and they have delivered an innovate and emotional collection of new millennium songs. \nCome and hear the new album alongside stripped back (but still rocking) versions of hits like “Happy Birthday Helen”\, “Wildflowers”\, “Rock This Boat” and “Share This Wine” that have all become part of the Australian songbook.\nEvery Things of Stone and Wood show has always been full of energy and passion. Don’t miss your chance to see this special version of “Melbourne’s most inspired and inspiring acoustic band” (Michael Dwyer). \nwww.thingsofstoneandwood.com\nhttps://www.facebook.com/thingsofstoneandwood/ \nDoors open 7pm for a 7:30pm start. \n\nTix: $40 +BF from Humanitix \nAbout the venue: \nThe Old Church on the Hill is located on the corner of Harkness and Russell Streets\, Quarry Hill\, Bendigo. \nThe Singer/Songwriter Showcase events\, staged at the Old Church by the Bendigo Blues & Roots Music crew on a semi-regular basis\, are an opportunity to enjoy a House Concert vibe in a public venue. The door charge is kept as low as possible to ensure accessibility to all. Under 12s free and\, although drinks are available for sale\, the focus is on THE MUSIC. If your conversation is more important to you than other people’s enjoyment of the artists’ performance\, please take it outside. (Thanks.) \nProceeds from drink sales go to supporting the Old Church crew and their many worthy initiatives. \nWe look forward to your company for an intimate concert experience like you’ve likely never experienced before.
