SUMMARY:Bec Sykes Pepperpot Magic Tour\, live at the Old Church on the Hill w/ Eliza Hull
DESCRIPTION:Bec Sykes is playing her debut Bendigo show at the Old Church on the Hill\, with very special guest\, Eliza Hull. \n  \nRising Naarm/Melbourne-based dream folk singer & songwriter Bec Sykes (she/her) is embarking on the Pepperpot Magic Tour\, a seven date East Coast headline run this July where she will be performing songs from her Australian Music Prize-nominated debut album Pepperpot Magic and previewing the new music she’s been creating since its release. Supports and special guests to be announced\, and all shows will be Auslan Interpreted. \nLauded for her songwriting prowess\, striking voice and captivating stage presence\, the magnetism of Bec Sykes’ live performance is as palpable when performing stripped back on iconic Recital Centre stages as it is with her full band at much-loved sticky carpet venues. Her performances are grounded with a refinement and growth in confidence that mirrors the deeply personal evolution traced on her “beautifully intimate” (Atwood Magazine) debut album. \nShe will be playing her first ever Bendigo show at the Old Church on the Hill in duo mode featuring piano\, Sykes’ honeyed vocals and Ronan Nicholson on pedal steel guitar. A beautiful evening of music for all ages (children must be accompanied by a guardian). \nReleased alongside lead single ‘Last to Know’ – which has since had more than 1.5 million streams on Spotify alone – Pepperpot Magic saw Sykes reclaim her power after leaving behind her Christian upbringing and a lonely relationship. Its arrangements are meticulous yet understated\, with Sykes’ warm\, honeyed vocals right up front and the band’s restrained arrangements subtly but powerfully building the world of each song. Spanning the minimalist to textural\, they lay the foundation for Sykes’ voice to work its spellbinding power. \nBec Sykes has been carving out her corner of the music landscape in so-called-Australia since her breathtaking debut single ‘Edithvale’ led to winning iconic Melbourne record label Pieater’s (Maple Glider\, Big Scary) ‘Pie School’ competition and the Josh Pyke Partnership. She toured nationally with Josh Pyke and has since supported Sarah Blasko\, Telenova\, Jem Cassar-Daley\, Mia Wray\, Teenage Dads\, Didirri and Katy Steele. \nPraise for Bec Sykes \n“I could listen to you sing all day\, Bec” – Zan Rowe \n“My favourite album of the year” – Merpire \n“A dreamy\, achingly tender alt-folk triumph.” – Atwood Magazine \n“Bec Sykes has one of the most beautiful voices. I stood there in complete awe the whole time. I could not believe what I was witnessing” – Reverie AU \n“A robust\, hypnotic voice… Stylistically we hear evidence of Fiona Apple and The Weather Station.” – The Wild Is Calling US \n  \n***Auslan interpreted*** \n***All ages welcome\, however children must be accompanied by a guardian.***

Hailing from Cobden\, Victoria\, his \nmusic transports listeners from the hustle and bustle of the city to the \ngolden fields of the Australian countryside\, blending raw emotion\, powerful \nstorytelling and timeless rock ’n’ roll spirit. \nAfter stepping away from music to embrace life as a husband and father\, \nLeslie spent the past few years honing his craft and finding inspiration in \nfamily\, love and the everyday moments that matter most. Now\, with a \ncollection of songs forged through life experience\, he returns with \nrenewed purpose and is preparing to unveil his long-awaited debut \nalbum. \nHis Introduction to this latest work is his first single “Gold”\, which explores \nthe the feeling of having to keep up appearances in order to be accepted\, \nonly to find that his true acceptance has come from finding his peace \nwithin himself\, that “Golden” feeling of fulfillment\, which\, after spending \nplenty of time in that pure south-west country air with his nearest and \ndearest\, has become more apparent than ever. \nHe is backed by his powerhouse band\, he calls The Trembling Shakes\, \nLeslie delivers a high-energy blend of soul-soaked rock ’n’ roll inspired by \nCreedence Clearwater Revival\, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats\, \nAlabama Shakes and The Rolling Stones. Together\, they create a sound \nbuilt to keep hips shaking\, toes tapping and crowds moving long into the \nnight. \nOne town at a time\, Leslie D. King is carving out his place on the \nAustralian blues and roots scene. \n  \nThe Old Church on the Hill is located on the corner of Harkness and Russell Streets\, Quarry Hill\, Bendigo. \nThe Singer/Songwriter Showcase events\, staged at the Old Church by the Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival crew on a semi-regular basis\, are an opportunity to enjoy a House Concert vibe in a public venue. The door charge is kept as low as possible to ensure accessibility to all. Under 12s free and\, although drinks are available for sale\, the focus is on THE MUSIC. If your conversation is more important to you than other people’s enjoyment of the artists’ performance\, please take it outside. (Thanks.) \nProceeds from drink sales go to supporting the Old Church crew and their many worthy initiatives. \nWe look forward to your company for an intimate concert experience like you’ve likely never experienced before.

SUMMARY:Toby Mobbs live at The Old Church on the Hill w/Steph Bitter
DESCRIPTION:Albury singer-songwriter Toby Mobbs will be on the road for another national tour this October to promote his third album ‘Stranger That I Know’. This tour will cover 14\,000km in the car over 28 days and will see Mobbs playing a show in every state and territory. This tour will feature local original support acts for each show\, Matt Cross on keys for select shows\, and end with Toby being backed by 13 members of the Albury Wodonga Symphony Orchestra for his hometown show to close the journey.\nThe third album by Toby Mobbs\, ‘Stranger That I Know’\, holds a familiar sound from what you’ve come to expect from his releases while maintaining many surprises. A diverse genre packed collection in 8 songs without any of them feeling out of place. Mobbs has again brought along with him the finest of musical friends to help shape this release including feature artists Meedie and James Oswald. Co-production by Matt Cross has shaped an album that places high value on melody and harmony. While you won’t hear a full orchestra or operatic tenor this time around\, tracks like ‘Best For Me’ will pull you straight back to 90s rock\, a folk driven sound of ‘Some Time’\, and just enough violins and guitar solos on the closing track ‘Rather Stay’ to remind you that a Toby Mobbs album while familiar\, is no stranger to the unexpected.\nToby Mobbs is a librarian by day and pop-folk singer-songwriter by night. Mobbs has sought to carve a unique music style both live and in the studio by incorporating thick\, dynamic\, and rhythmic guitar\, warm vocals\, and introspective lyrical storytelling. When not in his hometown of Albury NSW\, you will find him traveling around Australia finding new towns and audiences to connect with\, providing insight into the stories behind the music\, and promoting his latest studio releases.\nWhile Toby has been labelled one of the hardest working independent touring musicians in the country\, and having supported the likes of Thirsty Merc\, Josh Pyke\, and Winterbourne\, his studio recordings shine a different light to his stripped back performances on stage. These recordings break far away from the solo artist typecast\, showcasing a unique interpretation of the many musical genres that inspire his writing.\n\nTour Tickets: https://tobymobbs.tix.to/NationalTour2026\n$10 online (+bf) or at the door. Under 18s accompanied by guardian. Show starts 7pm. Support by: Steph Bitter\nListen to ‘Stranger That I Know’ album: https://tobymobbs.lnk.to/StrangerThatIKnow
