SUMMARY:The Blues Tram feat: Geoff Achison + The Lone Vanguard (Dale Lindrea)
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the sights of Bendigo’s architecturally stunning CBD from on board the sensationally restored vintage Class tram #610\, while being serenaded by two great acts. \nGeoff Achison:\nGeoff began his apprenticeship with legendary Australian bluesman ‘Dutch’ Tilders establishing himself as a fine lead guitarist before striking out with his own. He released his debut album in the early 90s and began touring throughout the USA\, UK & Europe. Geoff’s music has been compared favourably to major artists such as Eric Clapton\, JJ Cale and the Allman Brothers Band having a solid foundation in the blues whilst embracing a variety of music styles. He has won awards for his guitar playing\, songwriting and live performances and was honoured in 2011 as official Patron Of the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society.\nAs a song-writer\, Geoff explores a myriad of themes from love & loss to politics & philosophy; often with his wry sense of humour shining through. Vocally\, Geoff has been compared favourably to the gruff voiced Joe Cocker\, Warren Haynes and Paul Weller. An extraordinary guitarist who plays quite unlike anyone else\, Geoff has been a driving force on the Australian blues/roots scene inspiring and influencing many of his younger compatriots. \nThe Lone Vanguard:\nDale Lindrea describes his sound as ‘Muddy Water meets Kraftwerk’ with a range of influences that push the boundaries of the Roots music envelope. Dale is one of the most exceptional musicians to be plying his trade on the Oz Blues and Roots stage today. It’s a blessing to have him back on The Blues Tram in 2023! \nSaturday September 9th\nBlues Tram\, feat: Geoff Achison + The Lone Vanguard\nDeparting Central Deborah Goldmine (76 Violet Street) at 2pm\, returning 4:30pm.\nTix: $49.50 from Bendigo Visitor Centre 1800 813 513 or online here: https://www.bendigotourism.com/tours/bendigo-cbd/bendigo-blues-tram \nFollow The Blues Tram here: https://www.facebook.com/TheBluesTram \nStrictly no BYO. SUMMARY:CANCELLED Tony J King plays Rocks Underground
DESCRIPTION:**Due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions this event has been cancelled** \nOld school blues and original ‘murder ballads’ from legendary Tony J King will feature in the April edition of our “Dinner & Blues” sessions for 2020. Settle in to Rocks Underground\, with accomplished blues musicians providing the soundtrack to an exceptional culinary experience.\n(Updated menu info to be provided soon – watch this space!) \nNot dining? That’s OK\, pop in and enjoy a funky beverage while listening to some funky tunes. \nMore about our featured artist:\n“Having grown up in the tough\, migrant\, working-class northern suburbs of South Australia in the sixties and seventies\, King was exposed to the musical tastes of other British migrants – names such as Muddy Waters\, Bob Dylan\, Howling Wolf\, Leadbelly and Robert Johnson. He later earned a living as a truck driver\, storeman\, labourer\, salesman and teacher and has drawn upon this myriad of experiences as fodder for his song-writing.\nWith a few stories\, an old guitar and kick drum\, Tony J King creates a ramshackle music that has its roots in the street-corner blues and folk of yesteryear. Slow-burnin’\, low-fi urban myths\, murder ballads\, half-truths\, dark gospel and random fascinations are represented in quirky musical tales honed from a pre-occupation with the unusual\, the exotic and the downright bizarre.”
