His whirling\, genre-bending melodies\, accompanied with dexterous multi-instrumentalism\, are all moulded with intricate looping and mixing to give a colourful contrast of country boy and city beats. Daniel’s passion for music has had him develop a stage presence that will surely have you captivated. \nPhil & Trudy Edgeley:\nTrudy brings forth elements of gospel\, work song\, Pacific Islander and Indigenous melodies & rhythms\, to mix and match Phil’s love affair with the Mississippi Delta and British Traditional Folk to create amiable and\, on the quiet\, powerful material. SUMMARY:The Blues Tram w/Karrie Hayward + Jarrod Shaw
DESCRIPTION:A super-talented young singer/songwriter from Queensland makes her Blues Tram Debut while a well established Victorian bluesman returns to ride the rails in October 2019. \nEnjoy the sights of Bendigo’s architecturally stunning CBD from on board the sensationally restored vintage W Class tram\, while being serenaded by two great acts: \nKarrie Hayward:\nWhen you blend the rich\, soulful vocal tones with the vibrant\, percussive timbre of a guitar\, you get Karrie Hayward. Drawing inspiration from blues music and guitar heroes such as John Mayer\, Buddy Guy\, BB King; to the more ‘chilled’ sounds of Jack Johnson and Tash Sultana\, Karrie’s own style is a blend of the best parts of folk\, pop\, alt and blues. \nJarrod Shaw:\nJarrod Shaw possesses a passion and appreciation for blues music that becomes obvious from the moment the first note sounds. He delivers a soulful blues inspired show\, performed with conviction.\nJarrod was born and raised in country Victoria\, down the dirt roads of the Macedon Ranges. He taught himself to play guitar listening to the renowned blues greats\, as well as the icons of the Australian and local Melbourne blues scene.\nPerforming countless solo gigs has aided Jarrod in developing a musical style of his own. He blends his unique guitar approach lying somewhere between piedmont fingerstyle and the blues of the delta\, with a powerful voice often described as belying his years. At times he even wails away on a racked blues harp – all at once without missing a beat. If you close your eyes you might even believe there’s more than one person performing… \nSaturday October 12th\nBlues Tram\, feat: Karrie Hayward + Jarrod Shaw\nDeparting Central Deborah Goldmine (76 Violet Street) at 2pm\, returning 4:15pm.\nTix: $39 from Bendigo Visitor Centre 1800 813 513 or online here: https://www.bendigotourism.com/tours/bendigo-cbd/bendigo-blues-tram\nFollow The Blues Tram here: https://www.facebook.com/TheBluesTram \nStrictly no BYO. SUMMARY:The Blues Tram w/Geoff Achison + Cass Eager (Duo)
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the sights of Bendigo’s architecturally stunning CBD from on board the sensationally restored vintage W Class tram\, while being serenaded by two great acts. \nCass Eager:\nNamed by folk-blog Timber and Steel as ‘Janis Joplin and Ben Harper’s love-child’\, Cass Eager’s mix of raw blues\, husky soul and lighthearted ditties are all punctuated with her unique whisky-soaked vocals. Emotive\, slightly raspy\, at times tender and at times powerful – Eager’s voice is the driving force of her music.\nInternationally-renowned but defiantly grassroots\, Cass Eager is one of those rare artists that’s mastered everything from the foot-stomping blues to a sensual slow burner. She’s been called ‘one of the best female singers in Australia’ by Richard Glover (ABC)\, and even Diesel claims she could ‘sing the phone book to you and you wouldn’t get bored’. \nGeoff Achison:\nGeoff Achison is an award winning blues-roots artist from Australia known for his energetic live performances and unique guitar mastery. Geoff began his apprenticeship with legendary Australian blues stylist ‘Dutch’ Tilders establishing himself as a fine lead guitarist before striking out with his own. Geoff’s music has been compared favourably to Eric Clapton and the Allman Brothers Band having a solid foundation in the blues whilst embracing a variety of electric & acoustic styles. SUMMARY:CANCELLED Easter Blues Tram w/Karrie Hayward + Miguel Rios
DESCRIPTION:A super-talented young singer/songwriter from Queensland\, in town for Easter Blues Bender\, returns to ride the rails while a talented singer/songwriter from Melbourne makes his Blues Tram debut. \nMiguel Rios (Running Blue):\nRunning Blue is the musical moniker for songwriter and singer Miguel Rios and fiddle player Ash Jones. Rios\, grew up in the Queensland tablelands\, beautiful and taunting country\, Rios\, part Mexican\, part native American\, writes songs which are lyrically driven\, the words are both simple and incisive\, a dichotomy matched by a vocal style that is pure and unforced\, yet raw. These are detailed and deeply personal stories but they also thrum with universal truths. This gifted\, highly original singer-songwriter gives soulful voice to the longings and dark comedies of human striving that play out against the natural world. His gift has been burnished by the accompaniment of his close friend\, Ash Jones. Rios and this extraordinarily talented fiddler know each other inside out\, and it shows in the way Jones’s playing weaves in and out of the music like smoke through sunbeams. \nSaturday April 11th\nBlues Tram\, feat: Karrie Hayward + Miguel Rios\nDeparting Central Deborah Goldmine (76 Violet Street) at 2pm\, returning 4:15pm.\nTix: $39 from Bendigo Visitor Centre 1800 813 513 or online here: https://www.bendigotourism.com/tours/bendigo-cbd/bendigo-blues-tram\nFollow The Blues Tram here: https://www.facebook.com/TheBluesTram \nStrictly no BYO. SUMMARY:The Blues Tram w/Luke Watt + Alawishus Jones & The Outright Lies
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the sights of Bendigo’s architecturally stunning CBD from on board the sensationally restored vintage W Class tram\, while being serenaded by two brilliant acts: \nLuke Watt is a folk/blues guitarist and songwriter described by ABC National as “Raw and mercurial\, the real deal\,” and by Lloyd Spiegel as “A master of his craft.”\nDespite the experiences of touring his last album Hill End Ruin throughout Europe and the U.S\, Luke Watt’s new record is inspired by stories based much closer to home. Wild Graces is a collection of songs inspired by\, written and recorded in his now home of Central Victoria. The record was then mixed by long-time collaborator Nick Huggins (Jen Cloher\, Skipping Girl Vinegar\, Whitley). Luke’s folk and blues guitar playing carries songs of failed gold diggers\, small town tragedies and feuds between cranky old men. Wild Graces is an album from a touring artist who set up home and found stories worth telling. \nAll the way from the heart of the deep south comes the sound of authenticity cobbled together by three of the finest purveyors of twenty first century blues. Alawishus Jones\, Cleitus Johnson and T-Bone Redding seamlessly combine in multi-instrumental song lines that are rambunctious and delicious in equal measures.\nFixtures on all good festivals these ragtime playing rapscallions put on a rollicking show full of great music\, showmanship and comedy. Their first album ‘Little White Lies’ was launched earlier this year and greeted with ‘hollers’ and hoots of approval from all and sundry.\nPull up your braces\, button your collar\, hang on to your seats and get ready for the highly democratic\, somewhat enigmatic\, often melodramatic\, fully gyrostatic and totally charismatic Alawishus Jones & The Outright Lies! \nSaturday August 8th\nBlues Tram\, feat: Luke Watt + Alawishus Jones & The Outright Lies\nDeparting Central Deborah Goldmine (76 Violet Street) at 2pm (sharp)\, returning 4:15pm (approx.).\nTix: $39 from Bendigo Visitor Centre 1800 813 513 or online here: https://www.bendigotourism.com/tours/bendigo-cbd/bendigo-blues-tram\nFollow The Blues Tram here: https://www.facebook.com/TheBluesTram \nStrictly no BYO.
