DESCRIPTION:Two great singer/songwriters\, folksters\, top-shelf blues & roots artists\, Cat Canteri and Luke Watt will feature on our August Blues Tram. Luke is a Blues Tram veteran\, but Cat will be making her debut on Bendigo’s favourite mobile music venue. Come along and give Cat a big warm Bendigo welcome… \nEnjoy the sights of Bendigo’s architecturally stunning CBD from on board the sensationally restored vintage W Class tram\, while being serenaded by two great acts: \nLuke Watt:\nLuke Watt is a folk/blues guitarist and songwriter described by ABC National as “Raw and mercurial\, the real deal\,” and by Lloyd Spiegel as “A master of his craft.”\nDespite the experiences of touring his last album Hill End Ruin throughout Europe and the U.S\, Luke Watt’s new record is inspired by stories based much closer to home. Wild Graces is a collection of songs inspired by\, written and recorded in his now home of Central Victoria. The record was then mixed by long-time collaborator Nick Huggins (Jen Cloher\, Skipping Girl Vinegar\, Whitley). Luke’s folk and blues guitar playing carries songs of failed gold diggers\, small town tragedies and feuds between cranky old men. Wild Graces is an album from a touring artist who set up home and found stories worth telling. \nCat Canteri:\nEarly in 2016 Cat Canteri released her new 6-track EP Late At Night\, which captures the vitality and intimacy of her live shows and showcases the verve and passion she brings to her guitar playing. You can hear traces of The Pretenders\, Bonnie Raitt\, Eleanor Friedberger and Ryan Adams filtered through the organic rock ’n’ roll of The Faces. The new EP follows her acclaimed solo debut album When We Were Young (2014)\, which shone a spotlight on her own alt-country/Americana style. \nSaturday August 11th\nBlues Tram\, feat: Cat Canteri + Luke Watt\nDeparting Central Deborah Goldmine (76 Violet Street) at 2pm\, returning 4:15pm.\nTix: $35 from Bendigo Visitor Centre 1800 813 513 or https://www.bendigotourism.com/tours/bendigo-cbd/bendigo-blues-tram\nFollow The Blues Tram here: https://www.facebook.com/TheBluesTram \nStrictly no BYO. SUMMARY:The Blues Tram w/Genevieve Chadwick + David Spry
DESCRIPTION:The Friday night Blues Tram (as part of this year’s Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival) is a cracker! Genevieve Chadwick makes a welcome return to the rails\, while Darwin’s David Spry makes his Blues Tram debut! \nEnjoy the sights of Bendigo’s architecturally stunning CBD from on board the sensationally restored vintage W Class tram\, while being suitably entertained by these two great acts: \nGenevieve Chadwick:\nImagine if Janis Joplin and John Lee Hooker had a baby together; musically\, this girl would be the offspring of that union.\nShe looks like an angel… roars like a lion… and plays guitar like a demon! She’s been likened to the great Janis Joplin… ‘a female John Butler’. In his article at australianstage.com.au\, reviewer Lloyd Bradford Syke called her “Australia’s answer to Melissa Etheridge”.\nEvery once in a while an artist emerges who touches the very soul of an audience. Genevieve Chadwick is such an artist.\nWithout doubt\, Genevieve is an extraordinary performer who exudes raw energy by the bucket load. She has the power to bring an entire venue to a complete standstill. Her own original brand of Blues and Roots – poignant songs full of rich melodies\, sung with a voice that’s confoundingly gravel-like and smooth all at once – has given this singer/songwriter from the NSW South Coast a loyal and ever-growing army of followers. \nDavid Spry:\nOriginal singer/songwriter\, David Spry draws influence from his world travels and relates this to his Indigenous Australian heritage through heartfelt\, powerful and uplifting songs. From a long line of storytellers\, David uses his inherited gift and shares his experiences in a contemporary blend of Roots and Blues music with a uniquely upbeat vibe. David has made his mark on the Australian music scene in the most recent years sharing stages alongside talents such as Archie Roach\, Michael Franti & Spearhead\, Busby Marou\, Ash Grunwald\, Tex Perkins\, The Cat Empire and Jeff Lang. With recent performances include Blue Mountains Music Festival\, Nannup Music Festival\, Darwin Festival\, National Indigenous Music Awards\, Nimbin Roots Festival\, Caloundra Music Festival and St Kilda Festival\, David is solidifying the fresh new sound of Indigenous contemporary music. \nFriday Nov 10th\nBlues Tram\, feat: Genevieve Chadwick (NSW) + David Spry (NT)\nDeparting Central Deborah Goldmine (76 Violet Street) at 7pm\, returning 9:30pm.\nTix: $35 from Bendigo Visitor Centre 1800 813 513 or http://www.bendigotourism.com/bendigo-blues-tram\nFollow The Blues Tram here: https://www.facebook.com/TheBluesTram \nStrictly no BYO – drinks and snacks are available for purchase. \nThe Blues Tram is organised and staged by Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival Inc\, a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers. \nPlease Note:\nThis is a music appreciation event.
