SUMMARY:The Blues Tram w/Luke Watt + Cat Canteri
DESCRIPTION:Two great singer/songwriters\, folksters\, top-shelf blues & roots artists\, Cat Canteri and Luke Watt will feature on our August Blues Tram. Luke is a Blues Tram veteran\, but Cat will be making her debut on Bendigo’s favourite mobile music venue. Come along and give Cat a big warm Bendigo welcome… \nEnjoy the sights of Bendigo’s architecturally stunning CBD from on board the sensationally restored vintage W Class tram\, while being serenaded by two great acts: \nLuke Watt:\nLuke Watt is a folk/blues guitarist and songwriter described by ABC National as “Raw and mercurial\, the real deal\,” and by Lloyd Spiegel as “A master of his craft.”\nDespite the experiences of touring his last album Hill End Ruin throughout Europe and the U.S\, Luke Watt’s new record is inspired by stories based much closer to home. Wild Graces is a collection of songs inspired by\, written and recorded in his now home of Central Victoria. The record was then mixed by long-time collaborator Nick Huggins (Jen Cloher\, Skipping Girl Vinegar\, Whitley). Luke’s folk and blues guitar playing carries songs of failed gold diggers\, small town tragedies and feuds between cranky old men. Wild Graces is an album from a touring artist who set up home and found stories worth telling. \nCat Canteri:\nEarly in 2016 Cat Canteri released her new 6-track EP Late At Night\, which captures the vitality and intimacy of her live shows and showcases the verve and passion she brings to her guitar playing. You can hear traces of The Pretenders\, Bonnie Raitt\, Eleanor Friedberger and Ryan Adams filtered through the organic rock ’n’ roll of The Faces. The new EP follows her acclaimed solo debut album When We Were Young (2014)\, which shone a spotlight on her own alt-country/Americana style. \nSaturday August 11th\nBlues Tram\, feat: Cat Canteri + Luke Watt\nDeparting Central Deborah Goldmine (76 Violet Street) at 2pm\, returning 4:15pm.\nTix: $35 from Bendigo Visitor Centre 1800 813 513 or https://www.bendigotourism.com/tours/bendigo-cbd/bendigo-blues-tram\nFollow The Blues Tram here: https://www.facebook.com/TheBluesTram \nStrictly no BYO. Drinks and snacks available for purchase. \nThe Blues Tram is organised and staged by Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival Inc\, a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers. \nPlease Note:\nThis is a music appreciation event – a mobile concert. For the enjoyment of all patrons\, any rowdy or loud behaviour will not be tolerated. Event management reserves the right to refuse admission or evict patrons if requests to manage behaviour are not complied with; in this unlikely event\, tickets of offenders will be forfeited and no refund will be available.

SUMMARY:Buddy Knox\, Alawishus Jones & The Outright Lies + Rhyley McGrath

He has notched his Blues belt with some of the biggest music festivals in Australia\, and has been described as Australia’s own BB King.\nHe first picked up a guitar at just ten years of age. From humble beginnings\, a passion for guitar; his own natural gift\, and with music an important aspect of his life\, Buddy perfected his guitar ability to an outstanding standard\, spanning nearly three decades.\nHe has demonstrates a complete grasp of the work of the greats from Robert Johnson to Freddie King and BB King. \nDoors open at 7pm for a 7:30pm start and the door charge is only $15 \nThe Old Church on the Hill is located on the corner of Harkness and Russell Streets\, Quarry Hill\, Bendigo.\nThe Singer/Songwriter Showcase events\, staged at the Old Church by the Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival crew on a semi-regular basis\, are an opportunity to enjoy a House Concert vibe in a public venue. Although drinks are available for sale\, the focus is on THE MUSIC. If your conversation is more important to you than other people’s enjoyment of the artists’ performance\, please take it outside.\nProceeds from drink sales go to supporting the Old Church crew and their many worthy initiatives. Sound production is provided by R&J DJ & Entertainment and the door takings are able to be shared between the performers with thanks to our valued sponsors picking up the costs that would normally come out of the door.\nWe look forward to your company for an intimate concert experience like you’ve likely never experienced before.

SUMMARY:Justin Bernasconi & William Alexander
DESCRIPTION:Tales and picking from the country. \nJustin Bernasconi (rural Cambridgeshire\, UK) and William Alexander (the Kid from Bourke) team up to play a night of country story telling. \nNamed as ‘One of this country’s most interesting guitar talents’ by Australian Guitar Magazine\, Justin Bernasconi is a rarity among guitarists and songwriters. Straddling styles and sounds from the Delta Blues\, Appalachian Bluegrass\, English Folk and all stops in between\, his highly original tunes are infused with exciting and soulful guitar playing. \nBernasconi’s 2017 album Barefoot Wonderland has been embraced by fans and critics with Acoustic Magazine describing it as ‘a dazzling gumbo of songs’ and was equally acclaimed by Rolling Stone\, and The Age. Justin embarked on nationwide Australian tour\, and flew to the UK launch the album in London. UK mag fRoots simply wrote “like Leo Kottke and John Fahey on the instrumentals and John Prine on the songs’. \nHe’s been called many things in his short life\, such as the ‘Gentleman of the Bush’ \, ‘The kid from Bourke’\, ‘Young William’ and a few profanities. William is most at home when close to a river and surrounded by the plants and animals that bring life to this country. William sings about the stuff of life – of love gone wrong (and right)\, living on the road\, and working in the sun\, he does this with both his original works and through the words of others. For William\, folk songs are the perfect coupling of his twin loves of history and story-telling. If heart touching (breaking) tales from the Appalachian mountains interest you\, or the stories told through early Australian and American country music inspire you\, then perhaps William Alexander is your man. \nTickets are $15 presale from trybooking\, or $17 on the door
