SUMMARY:Julian James "Silver Spade" tour at The Gold Dust Lounge
DESCRIPTION:Tickets at the door – Featuring Local Legend! BILL BARBER \nEverything about Julian James and his new album ‘Silver Spade’ shouts the love of traditional blues for all to hear. His style is rooted in the old-time acoustic strummers of a bygone era\, and he joins next generation artists such as Larkin Poe\, Blind Boy Paxton and Pokey LaFarge in bringing authentic new voices to a style that has endured for 100 years. \nStill in his twenties\, Julian James has spent most of his adult life on the road\, first as front man of Blues festival heroes ‘Catfish Voodoo’ and on his own. ‘Silver Spades’ is the second album in his catalogue as a solo artist and Julian brings the experience of a seasoned performer and a fresh perspective to this set of traditional songs by artists like Ma Rainey and early Muddy Waters\, as well as originals like the title track Silver Spade.\nTales of love\, loss and debauchery from 2018 sit happily with their ancestors from the 1930’s as James deliver his laconic vintage drawl from some porch or other. \nSays Julian of his love of old blues:\n“Catfish Voodoo played straight Chicago Blues\, so I started with Muddy Waters\, Howlin’ Wolf\, and Willie Dixon; and then when I went out solo\, I just kept going back in time and discovering people like Mississippi John Hurt\, Leadbelly\, Son House and knew that’s what I wanted to do.” \n‘Silver Spades’ is available from all good music outlets from April 1st. \nwww.julianjames.com.au

Sherri began her career at the age of 12\, playing open mics and small gigs in central Victoria. She soon began to gain recognition for her talent\, winning awards for both her songwriting and performance skills. It was around this time Sherri’s music caught the attention of accomplished singer songwriters such as Grim Fawkner and Tom Lee Richards\, who have since acted as mentors to her.\nSherri Parry’s music showcases both composition skills and world views well beyond her time\, and her live performances are nothing but a testament to that. Delivering intimate\, ethereal performances that never fail to leave audiences spellbound.\nParry debuted her highly anticipated first EP\, ‘EQUAL’ in October 16\, sharing six songs exploring people\, life and relationships. \nDoors open at 7pm for a 7:30pm start and the door charge is only $10.
