SUMMARY:LUCIE THORNE - KITTY & FRANK Album Launch
DESCRIPTION:Painting landscapes with dream-soaked synths\, irresistible beats\, poetry and pathos\, Lucie Thorne presents her extraordinary new art/pop concept album Kitty & Frank. With Kitty & Frank\, Thorne traces the wild true stories of young frontier woman Kitty Walsh and her lover\, the charismatic bandit & bushranger Frank Gardiner. In the 1860’s Gold Fever came to Wheogo NSW and like Deadwood\, it didn’t end well. Delivered live with Thorne’s trademark storytelling warmth and charm\, Kitty & Frank inhabits a sonic world that calls to mind a meeting of David Bowie’s Blackstar and Kate Bush’s Ariel\, whilst spanning a tale of Shakespearean proportions. All this at the hands of one of Australia’s finest song-poets who has ventured to triumphant new ground with staggering certitude. \nLucie is touring far and wide throughout the spring to celebrate the album’s release – and for this Bendigo show she’ll be joined by stellar bandmates Hamish Stuart (drums) Alice Williams (bass & harmonies). \n“Thorne conjures a simple narrative flow that\, like a Raymond Carver story\, transforms everyday life into high art” (Canberra Times) \nhttp://www.luciethorne.com

SUMMARY:The Blues Tram w/Karrie Hayward + Jarrod Shaw
DESCRIPTION:A super-talented young singer/songwriter from Queensland makes her Blues Tram Debut while a well established Victorian bluesman returns to ride the rails in October 2019. \nEnjoy the sights of Bendigo’s architecturally stunning CBD from on board the sensationally restored vintage W Class tram\, while being serenaded by two great acts: \nKarrie Hayward:\nWhen you blend the rich\, soulful vocal tones with the vibrant\, percussive timbre of a guitar\, you get Karrie Hayward. Drawing inspiration from blues music and guitar heroes such as John Mayer\, Buddy Guy\, BB King; to the more ‘chilled’ sounds of Jack Johnson and Tash Sultana\, Karrie’s own style is a blend of the best parts of folk\, pop\, alt and blues. \nJarrod Shaw:\nJarrod Shaw possesses a passion and appreciation for blues music that becomes obvious from the moment the first note sounds. He delivers a soulful blues inspired show\, performed with conviction.\nJarrod was born and raised in country Victoria\, down the dirt roads of the Macedon Ranges. He taught himself to play guitar listening to the renowned blues greats\, as well as the icons of the Australian and local Melbourne blues scene.\nPerforming countless solo gigs has aided Jarrod in developing a musical style of his own. He blends his unique guitar approach lying somewhere between piedmont fingerstyle and the blues of the delta\, with a powerful voice often described as belying his years. At times he even wails away on a racked blues harp – all at once without missing a beat. If you close your eyes you might even believe there’s more than one person performing… \nSaturday October 12th\nBlues Tram\, feat: Karrie Hayward + Jarrod Shaw\nDeparting Central Deborah Goldmine (76 Violet Street) at 2pm\, returning 4:15pm.\nTix: $39 from Bendigo Visitor Centre 1800 813 513 or online here: https://www.bendigotourism.com/tours/bendigo-cbd/bendigo-blues-tram\nFollow The Blues Tram here: https://www.facebook.com/TheBluesTram \nStrictly no BYO. Drinks and snacks available for purchase. \nThe Blues Tram is organised and staged by Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival Inc\, a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers. \nPlease Note:\nThis is a music appreciation event – a mobile concert. For the enjoyment of all patrons\, any rowdy or loud behavior will not be tolerated. Event management reserves the right to refuse admission or evict patrons if requests to manage behavior are not complied with; in this unlikely event\, tickets of offenders will be forfeited and no refund will be available.

SUMMARY:Monique Clare feat. Joe D'Esposito in Bendigo
DESCRIPTION:Doors 7:00pm\nBOOK ONLINE: www.trybooking.com/543101 \nMonique Clare (The Maes) is joined by American fiddler Joe D’Esposito (The Railsplitters) in a mesmerising collaboration that draws on their diverse influences. Dancing between rhythmic cello lines\, powerfully vulnerable vocals and heart-tugging harmonies\, Monique Clare is an award-winning cellist and singer-songwriter. Since breaking out as a solo artist in 2017\, her songwriting has become increasingly daring and potent\, with hard-hitting lyrics and an unconventional brand of classical-folk-pop cello. Joe D’Esposito is a multi-genre fiddle player and improviser with infectious charisma. His work with The Railsplitters has seen him play Telluride Bluegrass Festival\, Woodford Folk Festival and Celtic Connections. This duo brings together a shared classical training\, obsession with fiddling traditions and a mutual love of Björk to deliver intricate arrangements of original songs and tunes. \n//ART//\nAll the way from Brisbane\, Ingrid Bartkowiak Art will be painting throughout the show\, reacting to themes from the music and the places they visit. Ingrid and Monique have a history of collaboration; Ingrid’s artwork was the cover of Monique’s debut EP\, By The Stars. She’ll have a selection of her incredible artwork displayed and available for sale on the night. \nYou’re invited to unleash your wild creative side too! Paper\, pencils and clipboard folders will be on hand for you to use and try your hand at live reaction artwork. \nTickets: www.trybooking.com/543101

Skirting the fringes of blues\, country and outlaw folk\, their diverse influences include Richard Thompson\, Tom Waits and the spirit of Woody Guthrie. Above The Bit shines a light on true tales of mutiny and civil disobedience that lie in the shadows of Australian history. \nNigel Wearne is “one of Australia’s emerging songwriters” (Tone Deaf) and Luke Watt is “the real deal…so real you feel you already know him” (ABC Radio). Together\, they tap into the psyche and emotive fabric of their subjects\, harnessing the power of narrative and verse with an informed historical approach and social conscience. \nProduced and recorded by Matt Walker and featuring Danny McKenna (drums) and Steve Hadley (bass)\, Land of Equal Share is the debut single from Above The Bit’s forthcoming self-titled album.
