Carus Thompson

Globe trotting troubadour Carus Thompson has toured the world alongside The John Butler Trio, The Waifs, Xavier Rudd, Jack Johnson & Pete Murray, selling over 30,000 albums along the way – and now he’s playing The Old Church on the Hill for the very first time.
Carus is currently touring his seventh studio album Shakespeare Avenue.  He’s one of Australia’s hardest working musicians, touring the world as an independent artist with family in tow, whilst building a loyal fan base over six studio and two live albums. And with 2017’s Island, the critical plaudits flowed – a WAM Song of the Year, a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition, and high rotation on Double J.
A renowned live performer, Thompson will deliver these new songs as well as old over a special two set show, all with the energy and passion that has made him one of Australia’s favourite acoustic artists.
He launches the album around Australia through October / November before taking these new songs to Europe & the UK in 2020.
“This is quality songwriting” – Jeff Jenkins, Living in the Land of OZ
“A treasure in the Australian musical landscape” – The Dwarf

Opening for Carus Thompson at The Old Church on Saturday 11 January is Luke Watt, another accomplished singer/songwriter/guitarist, currently residing in nearby Castlemaine.

Doors open at 7pm for a 7:30pm start with a door charge $15.

The Old Church on the Hill is located on the corner of Harkness and Russell Streets, Quarry Hill, Bendigo.
The Singer/Songwriter Showcase events, staged at the Old Church by the Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival crew on a semi-regular basis, are an opportunity to enjoy a House Concert vibe in a public venue.  The door charge is kept affordable to keep our concerts accessible and inclusive.  Although drinks are available for sale, the focus is on THE MUSIC.  If your conversation is more important to you than other people’s enjoyment of the artists’ performance, please take it outside.
Proceeds from drink sales go to supporting the Old Church crew and their many worthy initiatives.
We look forward to your company for an intimate concert experience like you’ve likely never experienced before.
