Tales and picking from the country.

Justin Bernasconi (rural Cambridgeshire, UK) and William Alexander (the Kid from Bourke) team up to play a night of country story telling.

Named as ‘One of this country’s most interesting guitar talents’ by Australian Guitar Magazine, Justin Bernasconi is a rarity among guitarists and songwriters. Straddling styles and sounds from the Delta Blues, Appalachian Bluegrass, English Folk and all stops in between, his highly original tunes are infused with exciting and soulful guitar playing.

Bernasconi’s 2017 album Barefoot Wonderland has been embraced by fans and critics with Acoustic Magazine describing it as ‘a dazzling gumbo of songs’ and was equally acclaimed by Rolling Stone, and The Age. Justin embarked on nationwide Australian tour, and flew to the UK launch the album in London. UK mag fRoots simply wrote “like Leo Kottke and John Fahey on the instrumentals and John Prine on the songs’.

He’s been called many things in his short life, such as the ‘Gentleman of the Bush’ , ‘The kid from Bourke’, ‘Young William’ and a few profanities. William is most at home when close to a river and surrounded by the plants and animals that bring life to this country. William sings about the stuff of life – of love gone wrong (and right), living on the road, and working in the sun, he does this with both his original works and through the words of others. For William, folk songs are the perfect coupling of his twin loves of history and story-telling. If heart touching (breaking) tales from the Appalachian mountains interest you, or the stories told through early Australian and American country music inspire you, then perhaps William Alexander is your man.

Tickets are $15 presale from trybooking, or $17 on the door
