The Sunday Blues Tram (as part of this year’s Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival) will feature an Australian blues legend in Phil Manning, along with a sublime WA duo in Simon & Tammy London.
Enjoy the sights of Bendigo’s architecturally stunning CBD from on board the sensationally restored vintage W Class tram, while being suitably entertained by these two great acts:
Phil Manning:
A veteran of the music industry in Australia, Phil Manning has been at the forefront of blues and roots style music for 5 decades.
During this time he has displayed great talent on both the electric and acoustic guitar while absorbing influences from folk, blues, country and world genres and crafting them into his unique style.
His high energy playing and relaxed delivery make him an engaging artist performing both original and traditional songs.
He has toured throughout Australia and New Zealand, as well as appearing at many festivals and venues in Ireland, UK, Vietnam, Cambodia and even Bali.
Over forty years he has recorded a large number of albums, both as a soloist and as a member of Chain, not to mention the countless sessions on other artist’s recordings, film music and product ads.
Phil Manning is a consummate live performer and it is here that he shines.
Simon & Tammy London:
Off the back of playing some of Western Australia’s favourite festivals including Fairbridge 2016 and supporting some of Australia’s big names, Simon and Tammy London know how to please a crowd. The chemistry of their voices, the harmonies that lay together, can deliver you to a special place, a rarity. Tammy’s gospel holler and clarion presence with Simon’s blues-gravel lows and soaring highs, offers something that comes around only once in a while. Hailing from the southern coast of WA, Simon and Tammy London have made their isolation work for them; the landscapes and people, the places and lives within them all encapsulated in their disarming and honest delivery of songs.
“Hearing Simon and Tammy London for the first time I was astounded. Riveting chemistry, stunning harmonies, superbly crafted songs…This is great Australian music that simply must be heard” Vikki Thorn (The Waifs)
