The Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival is set to take over the town from November 3 to 6, with hundreds of performances being staged across more than 45 of Bendigo’s finest live music venues and public spaces.
Now in its sixth year, the festival continues to go from strength to strength, still solely run by a dedicated group of local volunteers. With a line-up of local, national and international artists, there is always plenty to see and hear, from talented newcomers to genre stalwarts who have been refining their sound for many years.
As always, the centre piece of this year’s festival will be a free family-friendly concert, held in Bendigo’s iconic Rosalind Park on Saturday November 5.
The concert will be a tasty sampler of the more than 170 acts who will be showcasing their sound at dozens of venues across their city over the 4-day festival. Alongside the outdoor concerts and pub gigs will be artist workshops, school band showcases, youth stages, intimate concerts, open mics and jam sessions. Not forgetting, of course, 4 opportunities to ride on Bendigo’s famous Blues Tram, which will ferry music lovers on a rollicking adventure along Bendigo’s historic tramways, chaperoned by some of the festival’s finest musicians from near and far.
Direct from the USA
A highlight of this year’s festival will be the main event concert on Saturday evening, featuring Eugene ‘Hideaway’ Bridges (New Orleans, USA) and rising blues star from Nashville (USA) Travis Bowlin. The concert will take place in MacGillivray Hall, on the Bendigo Tafe Campus in McCrae Street and, with capacity at only 220 seated, you’ll need to get in and grab your tickets now to avoid missing out. Tickets are available via the festival’s official website, with thanks to the box office team at Capital Venues & Events.
This year there will be more performances on sidewalks, alfresco areas, balconies, parks and in other public spaces – more freely accessible quality music than ever before. As well as a healthy number of acts who’ve been on BB&RMF’s program before, there will be more than 60 acts who’ve never played the festival previously and for many of those this will be their first visit to Bendigo.
So if you’ve got the blues, or simply love to support quality live music, then join the crooners and shakers at this year’s Bendigo Blues & Roots Music Festival.
